Of all of the teams in the MLB right now, the brand new Miami Marlins have made the biggest splash (pun intended). After expressing interest in both Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes, and while Pujols probably won't end up there, Reyes just might, they still managed to make their first signing another big name in the market that not many people focused on: Heath Bell. Bell, one of the best closers in the game over the past 3 years, will now be sporting a brand new Miami jersey come spring time. This move will be extremely important for them, especially since their star closer last year, Leo Nunez, has been caught in a false identity scheme. Formerly Leo Nunez, Juan Carlos Oviedo will try to re-enter the United States, but who really knows how successful that will be. Anyway, this is a good start to a new-look franchise and I would not be surprised to see them in the hunt late in the year. Will they be the first NL single-elimination wild card team in history? Eh, we'll see.
